Motorcyclist dies after crash on Harbor Blvd.
A 55-year-old Costa Mesa man died Thursday after he broadsided a car while riding on his motorcycle at Harbor Boulevard and South Coast Drive.
Mark Johnston was driving northbound on Harbor Boulevard at 3 p.m. when he hit a Mustang and was ejected from his motorcycle. Witnesses said Johnston was driving fast and possibly ran a red light.
Johnston was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he later died.
The driver of the Mustang, a Westminster woman, was also taken to Western Medical Center but did not suffer life-threatening injuries, police said.
Gunman holds up 7-Eleven in Costa Mesa
A 7-Eleven store in Costa Mesa was robbed early Friday by a man with a gun, police said.
The man entered the store at Harbor Boulevard and Mesa Verde at 4:24 a.m. and demanded money from the only clerk working inside the store, said Costa Mesa Lt. Dale Birney.
The man, who was wearing a bandana over his face, left with an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.
