COSTA MESA PLANNING COMMISSION PREVIEW

Here are some items the Planning Commission will consider today.

AUTO RACING TEAM FACILITY

The owner of a property in the 3000 block of Enterprise Street wants to install an office and repair facility for race cars. A tractor-trailer and some cars also would be stored at the site.

The one-driver racing team’s activities aren’t expected to have a big impact on the neighborhood since car repairs will be performed inside the building and parking at the site is expected to be adequate.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Planning staff members recommend approving the request, which complies with the property’s industrial zoning.

TATTOO SHOP

A tattoo parlor would be opened in the 1700 block of Newport Boulevard if the commission approves. Property owner Dennis D’Alessio has requested a permit for the tattoo business, which would occupy 2,000 square feet of a two-story commercial building.

The business would be open between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily, and it would not offer body piercing.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Approval is recommended because the tattoo business meets the city’s requirements and appears compatible with surrounding businesses.
