Pop Warner season kicks off Saturday

The 2006 Huntington Beach Pop Warner season kicks off Saturday with a full slate of games.

Below is a listing of the home games Huntington Beach teams will play Saturday. All games are at the Edison High football fields:

  • Jr. Pee Wee Division Gold Chargers vs. Norwalk Blue Titans, 8 a.m.; Green Chargers vs. Long Beach Braves, 10 a.m.
  • Flag League: Chargers vs. Los Alamitos Red Griffins, 9 a.m.
  • Jr. Mighty Mite Division: Chargers vs. La Mirada Blue Matadors, 10:30 a.m.
  • Pee Wee Division: Green Chargers vs. La Mirada Blue Matadors, noon.
  • Jr. Midget Division: Green Chargers vs. Cypress Colts, 2 p.m.
  • Jr. All-American starts season Sept. 9

    Huntington Beach Jr. All-American Football will launch its season on Sat., Sept. 9.

    On opening day of the regular season, four Huntington Beach teams — Future League Orange, Clinic Black, Pee Wee White and Clinic Orange — will play home games at Huntington Beach High.

    The Sept. 9 home schedule:

    Future League: Oilers Orange vs. Compton Titans Blue, 9:30 a.m.

    Clinic Division: Oilers Black vs. Compton Titans, 11:00 a.m.

    Pee Wee Division: White vs. Inglewood Jets White, 1 p.m.

    Clinic Division: Orange Oilers vs. Carson Colts White, 3 p.m.

    H.B. Vikings baseball club holding tryouts

    The H.B. Vikings Baseball Club is evaluating new players on an individual basis for the upcoming fall 2006 and spring 2007 seasons.

    As of Sept. 1, the club team, which is entering its third year, will compete in the 12-year-old division. The team is open to any player who has turned 12 after May 1, 2006 or will be 12 by April 30, 2007.
