    ‘DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS’

    The Orange County Performing Arts Center presents “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” in Segerstrom Hall. The play tells the story of two con men living on the French Riviera and stars Norbert Leo Butz, a Tony-award winner, and Tony-nominated Tom Hewitt. Performance times are Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Tickets range from $22 to $72, and are available at the arts center’s box office, 600 Town Center Dr., Costa Mesa; by calling (714) 556-2787; or go to www.ocpac.org.

    FESTIVAL OF CHILDREN

    The Festival of Children Foundation celebrates its fifth anniversary this year, and its signature event, the Festival of Children, will take place throughout the month of September at South Coast Plaza, where more than 50 children’s charities will be showcased. The Foundation’s purpose is to connect children, charities and the community, and over 100 activities, workshops and performances will be offered free to the public. Highlights this year include Wyland, the ocean artist, who will paint a mural, actress Jane Seymour meeting and greeting visitors,and small paul by paul frank industries hosting a T-shirt decorating event.All activities take place at South Coast Plaza, 3333 Bristol St., Costa Mesa.     Orange Coast College will open its 22nd anniversary season this fall with the dark comedy “Dreaming of Norton.” The play follows two insurance claims adjusters on the heels of a Kansas hailstorm.     NIGHT AT THE OPERA FUNDRAISER

    The Roosters Foundation, a charitable organization of Orange County businessmen devoted to assisting disadvantaged children, will hold its 12th annual Monte Carlo night at 6 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach. The 2006 charities include the Blind Children’s Learning Center and R.E.A.C.H. Youth Foundation. The event features a cocktail reception, dinner, dancing, an auction, casino games, music and more.
