SoCal Preview Meet

ANTELOPE VALLEY — Erendira Uriostegui and Elda Hernandez finished second and fourth, respectively, to lead Orange Coast College to the title on Friday.

Hernandez ran the 3.1-mile course in 20 minutes, 35.28 seconds. Hernandez (20:43.8), Kristin Glen (12th in 21:21.59), Kimberly Jennings (17h in 21:31.98) and Claire Fleming (30th in 22:15.65) also contributed for the Pirates.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Orange Coast def. Pasadena

PASADENA — The Pirates won their nonconference season opener, 30-7, 30-19, 30-19, Friday behind 12 kills from Kiwi Winkler and 10 from Jacqui Reed had 10.

Chelsea Spadaro had 24 assists and Ashlee Moon added six service aces for OCC, which plays today at Glendale.

Azusa Pacific def. Vanguard

AZUSA — The Lions fell, 30-32, 30-25, 28-30, 30-22, 17-15, in a Golden State Athletic Conference match on Thursday.

Kim Wynn and Kelsey Wirt led the visitors with 19 kills apiece while Kelly Shortbridge added 16.

Vanguard falls to 4-2, 0-2 in conference, while Azusa, ranked No. 10 in the NAIA, is now 6-0, 2-0.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Orange Coast 2, Long Beach 0

COSTA MESA — Stacey Shoop and Ashley Boyer scored first-half goals and the Pirates made them stand up for a nonconference triumph Saturday at the school’s football stadium.

Boyer had the assist on Shoop’s tally in the sixth minute, the scored in the 16th minute.

Katie Johnson had two saves to preserve the shutout for OCC (3-2).

Long Beach fell to 1-2-2.

MEN’S SOCCER

Long Beach 4, Orange Coast 1

LONG BEACH — Dave Barnett scored in the 12th minute to put the Pirates up, 1-0, but the Vikings rallied for four goals, including three after halftime, to prevail in the nonconference clash Friday.

Matt Schirmer had the assist on Barnett’s goal, while Erik Torres made six saves in the second half for OCC (2-2).

Long Beach improved to 3-1.

MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

SoCal Preview Meet

ANTELOPE VALLEY — Orange Coast finished eighth as a team, with Martin Bernard (20th in 24 minutes, 2.39 seconds over the four-mile course) leading the way.

Ernesto Castaneda was 25th for the Pirates (24:12.34).

WOMEN’S GOLF

World University Championship

TORINO, Italy — UC Irvine junior Selanee Henderson is tied or 18th after the third day of the four-day event at Circolo Golf Torino.

Henderson has shot 75, 77 and 78 through three rounds and is 14 over par. The final round is today.
