Anteaters win title

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The UC Irvine men’s soccer team tied Fordham, 2-2, Sunday and was named champion of the Long Island University Classic.

UCI’s Anthony Hamilton scored in the 74th minute off a cross from Brad Evans.

Hamilton, who had two goals and an assist in two tournament contests, was named tournament MVP.

Evans had two assists Sunday, including one on a Brandon Tario goal in the 33rd minute.

Evans, Tario, Sergio Rivera and Cameron Dunn all represented UCI on the all-tournament team.

UCI is now 3-1-1, while Fordham is 4-0-1.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

UC Irvine 1, Buffalo 0

IRVINE — Junior defender Makenzie Beahm knocked in a corner kick by sophomore Kathleen Lemieux in the 28th minute in the finale of the Puma Classic Sunday.

The win was the first for UCI Coach April Heinrichs.

UCI is now 1-5, while Buffalo fell to 2-4.
