CITYSCAPE ROUNDUP:

Huntington Beach-based Quiksilver Inc.’s third-quarter net income dropped by 78%, from $24.3 million the previous fiscal year to $5.3 million. The steep drop-off was blamed on its recent acquisition of Rossignol’s seasonal business cycle.

Quiksilver’s share price was down 7.6% in after-hours trading. French ski maker Rossignol, acquired by Quiksilver in 2005, has a positive effect on the company’s first and fourth quarters in terms of profits but has a negative effect in the second and third quarters, according to the company.

Chairman and Chief Executive Robert McKnight Jr. warned a weak golf market will affect the company’s fourth-quarter results.

Revenues from its recently acquired businesses of Rossignol and Cleveland Golf made up about $76.8 million of the total.

Its third-quarter revenues increased 41%, to $525.9 million from $373.8 million during the same period last year.

The first dance made easy

If you have been dreading the first dance after getting married, a Bride and Groom’s First Dance class can help improve those with two left feet.

The couple just have to get their own music, and trainer Kaylaa Fox will help do the rest for a fee of $25 per person.
