Yes, I support restricted parking near the beach in Newport. But we must do these two things first: Issue parking permits to all Newport Beach residents (not just those in the area of restrictions), because this is my city, and I should also be given the privilege to park in these areas. And build a parking facility off of the peninsula for nonresident beachgoers, and have a shuttle service running from the parking structure along the peninsula from the point to the river jetty. Hey, let’s get a little creative!

ANTHONY BARTOLIC, Newport Beach

The Corona del Mar public parking should be limited. There is no good that happens after the 10 p.m. curfew.

SUZANN BURKE, Newport Beach

I recently visited my sister in Corona del Mar and was appalled at the amount of noise, trash, partying, etc., that went on until all hours of the night. For such an upscale and desirable neighborhood, I felt extremely unsafe. I would support the restrictive parking initiative if I lived in the town.

JERRI MILBANK, Westborough, Mass.

I would be in favor of parking restrictions to prevent Catalina visitors from taking what little parking there is on Balboa Island. Some thought would have to be put into how to handle overnight permits for the numerous short-term rentals on the island and how to handle residents’ own visitors.

MARY HALL, Balboa Island

I fully support the restricted-parking initiative in Corona del Mar. It’s an issue of public safety and crowd control.

JIM MADDEN, Harbor Island

I would like to support the issue regarding restrictive parking in Corona del Mar. It will provide safety for the people who live there as well as for the teenagers who abuse the area.

ANN MOORHEAD, Newport Beach

I support the restricted overnight parking in Corona del Mar. It is a good idea for safety reasons: to cut down on crime, vandalism, trash, and disruptions. I don’t live in Corona del Mar but visit often.
