A German man accused of molesting an eight-year-old girl at a Newport Beach RV park in August pleaded not guilty today in Orange County Superior Court.

Police allege Michael Roeder, 27, committed a lewd act on the girl while he was pushing her onto a floating buoy in the bay at the Newport Dunes resort on Aug. 23.

Roeder was arrested in Northern California earlier this month when he returned the rented RV he had been traveling in. Police found nearly 1,000 images of child pornography on Roeder’s laptop computer, authorities said.

Orange County Superior Court judge Peter Polos denied bail for Roeder’s attorney, saying the decision was in “the interest of protecting the public.”
