CRUISIN FOR A CURE
A classic car show featuring hot rods, muscle cars, restored classic cars and ready-for-action trucks rolls into Orange County to benefit prostate cancer research at UCLA’s Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. The show is located at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Kids can race Hot Wheels on a special track set up by Mattel; Brian Beirne, Mr. Rock N Roll”, will host free concerts throughout the day. Free prostate cancer screening tests are available to men over 40 in the Drive Against Prostate Cancer, a mobile screening unit. Tickets are $12; children under 12 are free. Fairgrounds are at 88 Fair Dr., Costa Mesa.

SPORTS AGENT HONORED
Project Access, a non-profit organization helping low-income families and seniors in affordable housing, will honor legendary sports agent and community leader Leigh Steinberg for his humanitarian work with its first annual “Keys to Success” award at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach. A cocktail reception at 6 p.m. will be followed by dinner and the awards program from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The Island Hotel is at 690 Newport Center Dr., Newport Beach.

KIDS NIGHT OUT
The city of Costa Mesa Recreation Division will host a “Kids Night Out” at Balearic Community Center from 6 to 10 p.m. Children ages 7 to 12 will be taken to Boomers amusement park in Irvine. SURF’S UP
The Newport Beach Pro presented by Jeep will showcase some of surfing’s top talent at Newport’s 54th Street break. A fourth Oakley Pro Junior contest has been added to the 2006 junior event series, and top American and international surfers under the age of 20 will compete for the $10,000 prize.
