NEWPORT BEACH — The Sailors, playing at home, survived a scoreless second half in their quarterfinal to advance to today’s 10:40 a.m. semifinal in the South Coast Tournament.

Clint Jorth and Blake Hockenbury had two goals apiece to help the Sailors prevail.

Colin McKibben also scored for the Sailors, who received eight saves from Bryce McLain.

Newport plays at home against El Toro today. The title game is today at 4:05 p.m. and the third-place game is at 3 p.m. Both are at Newport Harbor.

CORONA DEL MAR — The Chargers outscored the host Sea Kings, 4-2, in each of the first two periods to advance to today’s semifinals of the South Coast Tournament.

Senior Greg Sanford led the Sea Kings with two goals.

COSTA MESA — Sophomore Renee Nutter had nine aces to lead the Mustangs to a 25-21, 25-16, 11-25, 25-20 nonleague win Friday.

Whitney Crosby had eight kills and Caitlyn Duffy added six digs for the Mustangs (2-2).

Estancia def. Ocean View

COSTA MESA — Annie Tomasek had 10 kills, while Jaye Hellmich and Olivia Schow both recorded four aces to lead the Eagles to a 25-17, 25-18, 25-19 nonleague victory Friday.

The Eagles are 8-2.

Northwood def. Sage Hill

NEWPORT COAST — Kelsey Lawler had 18 assists for the Lightning, who dropped the 19-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-21 nonleague decision Friday.

Sage Hill fell to 3-6.
