Newport-Mesa Seahawks 42, South County Trojans 0: The Seahawks scored six touchdowns in their league opener on Sept. 16, led by Kory Cablay with 119 yards and two touchdowns.

Jeff Carlyle also scored a touchdown on the ground, and Kurt Walde, Taylor Parks and Dylan Rand-Luby also ran the ball well.

The offensive line of Taro Doone, Bronson Gilbert, Garrett Farthing, Alex Losoya and Max Meisenheimer all helped key the running game.

Quarterback Chase Forrest led the air assault, throwing touchdown passes to Levi Stillman, Chris Johnstone and Blake Bowie.

Adding to the attack on offense were JP Pilz, Luke Burnicle, Victor Valladares, Rafael Corvera, Daemon Kane, Nick Gomez and Devin Magana.

The defense, led by Kenny Drinnon, Walde and Kyle Benter, held the Trojans to no first downs and posted its second straight shutout.

Newport-Mesa Seahawks def. Compton Titans: The Seahawks were leading into the fourth quarter of their home opener on Sept. 9 before Compton was forced to forfeit, after it was discovered it used two illegal players.

The Seahawks’ defense shined. Todd Jarvis recovered a fumble, Chris Johnston had a safety and a quarterback sack, Garrett Farthing recovered two fumbles and Jeff Carlyle had an interception.

Defensive linemen Bronson Gilbert, Cayman Carter and Kenny Drinnon dominated the trenches, and Taro Doone and Kyle Benter played well at defensive end.

Linebackers Kurt Wilde, Levi Stillman and Colby Koste stuffed the Titans offense and Adrian Marin, Kory Cablay and Jeff Carlyle were strong in the secondary.

On offense, Carlyle and Koste had rushing touchdowns, and quarterback Chase Forrest threw well to Cablay and Stillman.

The Silver Seahawks played well on offense, led by Rafael Corvera, Blake Bowie, Daemon Kane, JP Pilz, Nick Gomez, Luke Burnicle, Devin Magana and Christian Abbey.

Offensive linemen Alex Losoya, Max Meisenheimer, Farthing, Doone, Gilbert, Walde and Koste played well.

Taylor Parks had two successful conversions and Carlyle returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

Dylan Rand-Luby and Troy Reese both played well off the bench.
