Newport Harbor 221, Esperanza 234 NEWPORT BEACH — Freshman Lauren Draganza shot five-over-par 39 for medalist honors for the Sailors, who stayed unbeaten in Sunset League play Tuesday at Big Canyon Country Club.

Kendall Horn (41), Ali Thomas (45), Tiffany Kim (47) and Morgan Moody (49) also scored for Newport Harbor (7-1, 3-0 in league).

IRVINE — Cierra Gaytan-Leach earned co-medalist honors by shooting a three-over-par 39 in the Pacific Coast League match Tuesday at Rancho San Joaquin.

Senior Jonna Kim (41), senior Jessica Milner (44), senior Courtney Wright (45) and junior Katherine Hanson (45) also scored for the Sea Kings (6-0, 3-0 in league).

Newport Harbor def. Great Oak

TEMECULA — Senior Megan Toman had a team-high 14 kills for the Sailors in a 25-8, 20-25, 25-12, 25-19 nonleague match on Tuesday.

Megan Munce and Katie Wells had 11 kills each, Jamie Heenan had nine kills and 17 digs and Alesha Young had 45 assists and three service aces for the Sailors (6-1).

Newport Harbor plays at Laguna Beach on Friday.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Senior Kelsey Lawler’s 36 assists and five aces were not enough as the Lightning lost, 19-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-21, Tuesday in a nonleague match.

Junior Colleen Heyler chipped in a team-high 11 kills for Sage Hill (3-7) and freshman Lindsey Kish and senior Kelly Hutchinson added six kills each.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Sage Hill 17, Oxford Academy 1

NEWPORT BEACH — The Lightning dominated its Academy League opener, as singles players Sarah Geocaris, Ashley Adams and Stephanie Langer lost just three combined games in nine sets at the Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club.

Sage Hill (8-0, 1-0 in league) plays at Mater Dei today.

Corona del Mar 14, Beckman 4

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Jill Damion improved to 15-0 on the season with a singles victory and the Corona del Mar used 19 different players, the most ever by a Sea Kings team, coach Brian Ricker said.

It was the Pacific Coast League opener for the Sea Kings Tuesday.

The Sea Kings improved to 8-0, 1-0 on the season while seven different doubles teams combined to go undefeated.

Corona del Mar will continue league play Thursday, when it plays at Laguna Hills at 3:15 p.m.

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Blake Hockenbury scored two goals, but the Sailors were unable to overcome an early deficit Tuesday at Newport Harbor High.

Colin McKibbin, Nick Yeager, Collin Sherman, Riley Hayes and Andy Hayes all scored one goal each.

Bryce McLain and Myles Christian combined to make nine saves in goal for Newport Harbor (6-2).

LA VERNE — Newport Harbor goalie Jessica Pizarek made eight saves, but the Sailors (6-3-2, 0-1) lost their Sunset League opener at Bonita High on Tuesday.

Coach Devon Kelly said that forward Samantha Hill, midfielder Claire Josephson and defender Annabelle Storch all played well for the Sailors.
