Tiffany Ann Geyer Drage, daughter of Bradley Drage of Newport Beach, was inducted into the Beta Mu Alpha Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Orange Coast College on September 15, 2006. Phi Theta Kappa is an honor society serving two-year colleges around the world, and students must rank in the top 20% of their class to be invited to join.


Newport Coast couple Gary Kucher and Rosa Liu were the $5,000 grand prize winners of NatureSweet Tomatoes’ Homegrown Tomato Challenge contest held on Sept. 23 at the Ralphs store in Huntington Beach. Three Huntington Beach residents were named runners-up. Kucher and Liu won the competition with their cherry grape tomatoes, and all of the tomatoes entered were donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank in Huntington Beach after the contest.


Gayle Clauson of Costa Mesa recently completed a three-week training class at Guide Dogs for the Blind Inc. in San Rafael and graduated on Sept. 2 with her yellow Labrador retriever guide dog, Glory, at her side. Guide Dogs for the Blind helps people who are blind have better quality of life, and tries to match each person with the right dog for his lifestyle.
