Sleeping woman run over in road

A 33-year-old Laguna Beach woman was accidentally run over at 7:04 a.m. Sept. 16 on the 1800 block of South Coast Highway when the driver did not realize she was sleeping under his car, Det. Sgt. Darin Lenyi said.

The woman had apparently laid down next to the vehicle’s muffler to stay warm the night before.

The woman refused medical treatment.

Witnesses sought in Day Labor incident

Police are seeking witnesses who may have information about an alleged assault Sept. 16 at the Laguna Beach Day Labor Center.

Two suspects were released Sept. 19 after being arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder after allegedly driving a vehicle through the hiring area at high speed and hitting two people, causing minor injuries.

The District Attorney’s office has said that there is not enough information to pursue a case against the suspects.

The Laguna Beach Police are hoping to locate an Asian couple who witnesses said may have photographed the incident.

In a written statement, police said that a witness’s immigration status should not be viewed as a concern to police.

Surfer arrested in rock assault

A 19-year-old Hawaii man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon following a fight among three surfers at 3:38 p.m. Sept. 23 in Heisler Park, according to police records.The suspect allegedly used a rock to strike the victim, causing significant bleeding from his head.
