NEWPORT BEACH — Sea Kings Cierra Gaytan-Leach, Jessica Milner and Courtney Wright were among four medalists after shooting six-over-par 41 in the Pacific Coast League match Thursday at Newport Beach Country Club.

Jonna Kim (43) and Katherine Hanson (48) also scored for Corona del Mar (7-0, 4-0 in league).

COSTA MESA — The Sailors and Vikings tied their Sunset League match, 222-222, but Newport Harbor won based on the better score by its sixth player in Sunset League action Thursday at the Costa Mesa Country Club.

Sophomore Brittany Phillips came through with a 13-over-par 48 to provide the difference for Newport Harbor (8-1-1, 4-0 in league).

Lauren Draganza (42), Morgan Moody (43), Ali Thomas (44), Kendall Horn (45), and Tiffany Kim (48) also scored for the Sailors, who battle Los Alamitos for league supremacy Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Big Canyon Country Club.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Senior forward Robin Ibbetson scored 10 minutes into the second half to give the Sailors the Sunset League road victory Thursday.

Senior forward Jessie Nix had the assist on the play and senior midfielder Rachel Foster set her up by pushing the ball forward for Newport Harbor (7-3-2, 1-1 in league).

Coach Devon Kelly said senior defender Clea O’Kieffe helped the Sailors maintain possession throughout.

Santa Ana Valley

SANTA ANA — The Mustangs rallied for a 25-27, 25-20, 29-27, 25-13 nonleague win on Thursday.

Senior Danielle Morton had 16 kills and Renee Nutter added 35 assists for the Mustangs (4-2). Coach Casey Peterson said Gina Decker (seven kills) subbed in during the third game and helped Costa Mesa overcome a deficit.

Costa Mesa plays host to Santa Fe High today.

Santa Fe is coached by former Mustangs coach Chris Komer.

SEAL BEACH — The Sailors tied Los Alamitos, 9-9, in sets, but dropped their Sunset League opener on games, 80-66, Thursday at the Seal Beach Tennis Center.

Juniors Emily Gelbaum and Alex McIntosh, the Nos. 1 and 2 singles players, respectively, each won two singles sets for the Sailors (5-2).

BOYS’ WATER POLO

FULLERTON — The Mustangs had a two-goal lead with three minutes to play, but the Lancers scored the final three goals of the game to earn the nonleague victory Thursday.

Junior Sam Edman led the Mustangs with three goals, while John Roche and Cody Serrano each had two.

Costa Mesa fell to 3-4, while Sunny Hills is 10-11.
