COMMUNITY & CLUBS:Measure V on agenda

The Newport Beach General Plan update, Measure V on the November ballot, will be the topic of Speak up Newport’s Oct. 11 meeting.

Advocates from both sides of the issue will discuss their positions. The meeting will be held at the Newport Beach Yacht Club, 1099 Bayside Drive, starting at 5 p.m. with appetizers and a cash bar, followed by the program at 6 p.m.

HARBOR MESA LIONS ASSISTING CITY AT LOUNGE CHAIR THEATER

Members of the Harbor Mesa Lions will be volunteering service hours on Oct. 7 to assist with the city-sponsored fourth annual Lounge Chair Theater, hosted by Fairview Park Friends/Fundraising committee.

The club will help with the candy, drinks and food sales. The event includes activities for children, along with the movie “Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”

It will start at 5 p.m. and is near the picnic shelter at Fairview Park. Harbor Mesa member Carol Proctor, city staff liaison for the event, may be reached at (714) 754-5688 for further information.
