LAGUNA HILLS — Senior Kasey Kipp had nine kills and two blocks and Madison Smith chipped in seven assists and seven digs to lead the Sea Kings to a 25-15, 25-16, 25-16 Pacific Coast League road win Thursday.

Jamie Lawson (13 assists and three aces), Shannon Johnson (eight digs), Hayley Alder (seven digs), Sarah Sullivan (three aces) also contributed for the Sea Kings (13-2, 2-0 in league), ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division II-AA.

NEWPORT BEACH — Megan Toman and Jamie Heenan had 10 kills a piece and the Sailors cruised to a, 25-21, 25-8, 25-8, Sunset League victory over Fountain Valley Thursday.

Alesha Young dished out 20 assists and Megan Munce had 17 for Newport Harbor (9-1, 2-0 in league). The Sailors are ranked No. 7 in CIF Southern Section Division I-AA.

Estancia def. Calvary Chapel

COSTA MESA — Jaye Hellmich smashed 14 kills to lead the Eagles to a, 25-15, 25-15, 25-19, victory in the Orange Coast League opener Thursday.

Annie Tomasek added 10 kills for Estancia (10-3, 1-0 in league). Stacey Watson had 33 assists and Amanda Watson had 13 digs.

Calvary Chapel 29

COSTA MESA — Mitch Friedmann edged fellow senior John Zapata to pace the Mustangs, who had five in the top eight finishers in the Orange Coast League dual meet opener Thursday at Costa Mesa High.

Friedmann completed the three-mile course in 17 minutes, 36.2 seconds, while Zapata finished second in 17:36.4.

Jason Rosello (fifth in 19:09), John Sudbeck (sixth in 19:22) and Drake Burnette (eighth in 19:42) also scored for Mesa.

Calvary Chapel 35

COSTA MESA — Senior Emily Cotton topped the field for the Mustangs in the Orange Coast League-opening dual meet Thursday at Costa Mea High.

Cotton finished the three-mile course in 20 minutes, 30 seconds.

Freshman Wendi Way had a strong performance to finish third (23:05) for Costa Mesa.

Cheyenne Lopez (fourth in 23:29); Courtney Green (fifth in 23:31) and Emily Bowman (sixth in 23:33) also scored for the Mustangs.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Seniors Chrissy Schwartz and Sasha Dunlap won 18 of 20 games to sweep at No. 1 doubles for the Sailors in the Sunset League match Thursday at Mile Square Park.

Junior Emily Gelbaum and sophomore Ariana Cernius also swept convincingly at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively.

The Sailors improved to 7-2, 2-1 in league, while Fountain Valley fell to 4-7, 1-2.

SAN CLEMENTE — The doubles teams of Jaclyn Smreck and Alle Hsu, as well as Carissa Cummings and Salen Andrews, swept for the Lightning in the Academy League match Thursday at the Rancho San Clemente Tennis Club.

The Lighntning, ranked No.1 in CIF Southern Section Division IV, improved to 13-0, 5-0 in league.

St. Margaret’s, ranked No. 5 in CIF Division IV, fell to 5-2, 3-1.

Corona del Mar 17, University 1 IRVINE — No. 1 singles player Flora Lee, a sophomore, won all three of her singles sets in the Pacific Coast League romp Thursday at University High.

The doubles teams of Hayley and Miranda Young, as well as Cierra Gaytan-Leach and Hailey Hogan, also swept for CdM (13-0, 4-0 in league).

COSTA MESA — Senior Rachel Foster scored on an assist by senior Jackie Sanchez with nine minutes left to key the Sunset League victory Thursday at Harper Community Center.

Senior goalie Jessica Pizarek had one save to earn the shutout for Newport Harbor (15-3-3, 3-1 in league).

The Sailors play host to Santa Ana for another league game Tuesday.

NEWPORT BEACH — Freshman Lauren Draganza had a seven-over-par 41 to lead the Sailors to a Sunset League victory at Big Canyon Country Club on Thursday.

Kendall Horn (42), Ali Thomas (45), Morgan Moody (46) and Tiffany Kim (47) also scored for Newport Harbor (9-2-2, 5-1 in league).

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Senior Lina You shot four-over-par 35 to pace the Eagles to the Orange Coast League win Thursday at at David L. Baker Golf Course.

Taylor West (36), Josie Flores (40), Kate Johnson (40) and Jackie Crosson (41) also scored for the Eagles (10-0, 6-0 in league).

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Amy Babbush (50) was the medalist for the Lightning in their Academy League win Thursday at San Juan Hills Country Club.
