Newport Beach is the official owner of Sunset Ridge Park, after the California Transportation Commission today voted to finalize the sale of the 15-acre park parcel for $5 million.
The city has been working on getting the Caltrans-owned land for about five years, but the price has been a sticking point.
The park likely will be developed with baseball and soccer fields. The sale terms include an easement to protect public views from Coast Highway. Newport Beach City Councilman Steve Rosansky said the city probably will hold public outreach meetings to learn what facilities residents want at the park.
