Newport Harbor 17, Marina 1

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Kristin Kahn won her first varsity singles set to help the Sailors rout the Vikings in Sunset League play Thursday.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Chrissy Schwartz and Natalie Small won 18 of 19 games, while the No. 2 duo of Sasha Dunlap and Brittany Sowers won 18 of 20 for the Sailors (7-3, 3-2 in league).

IRVINE — Melissa Matsuoka swept in No. 1 singles as CdM remained undefeated with a Pacific Coast League win Thursday.

The duos of Kelly McKitterick and Karen Ishii as well as Jill Damion and Danielle Kaiden swept their doubles sets for CdM (14-0, 5-0 in league).

COSTA MESA — Ellie Edles swept in singles and Kendra Fisher and Sara Stratton collected two sets in the Eagles’ Orange Coast League win Thursday.

Coach Rachel de los Santos said a doubles win from Erin Rodman and Chantel O’Toole was key for Estancia (8-3, 2-1 in league).

NEWPORT BEACH — Megan Toman, Megan Munce and Jamie Heenan recorded eight kills each in the Sailors’ 25-18, 25-11, 25-19 Sunset League win Thursday.

Katie Wells had seven kills and Mary Buckingham added five kills for the Sailors (11-1, 4-0 in league). Alicia Young contributed 30 assists.

Estancia 216, Costa Mesa 308

COSTA MESA — The Eagles’ Bridget Gleason was medalist with a two-over-par 37, helping Estancia (13-0, 8-0 in league) stay perfect in an Orange Coast League match at Costa Mesa Country Club on Thursday.

Also scoring for the Eagles were Avery Williams and Caroline Clements (43), Lina You (44) and Taylor West (49).

Scoring for the Mustangs (3-7, 3-5) were Lindsey Slaney (56), Melly Dean (61), Chrissy Camarillo (62), Shelby Farris (63) and Maggie Moss (66).

Newport Harbor 240, Esperanza 243

YORBA LINDA — Freshman Morgan Moody shot a one-over on the final six holes to propel the Sailors to the Sunset League win at Black Gold Golf Course Thursday.

Moody shot an eight-over par 44 for Newport Harbor (11-3-2, 7-1 in league). Lauren Draganza (45), Kendall Horn (46), Ali Thomas (51) and Tiffany Kim (54) also scored.

Santa Margarita 222

NEWPORT BEACH — Sea Kings seniors Jessica Milner and Courtney Wright were co-medalists with six-over-par 41, helping Corona del Mar to a nonleague victory at Newport Beach Country Club Thursday.

Cierra Gaytan-Leach and Jonna Kim (both 43), as well as Quinn Kawata (46), also scored for the Sea Kings (11-0-1).

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Mater Dei 12, Costa Mesa 5 SANTA ANA — Sam Edman scored four goals in the Mustangs’ nonleague loss at the Monarchs’ pool Thursday.

Skyler Twohig added one goal and Scott Neslage had 10 saves for Mesa (5-9).

Goalie Danny Harold made six saves for the Lightning (10-2, 2-1 in league) and helped hold the Eagles (0-6, 0-3) scoreless in the first half.
