Teens, adult arrested

An adult woman and two teens have been arrested by Costa Mesa police on suspicion of vandalism, and on suspicion of robbing one person and attempting to rob another.

Krystal Martinez, 18, of Costa Mesa, and two Costa Mesa female teens, ages 14 and 16, were arrested Friday on suspicion of committing two separate crimes on Friday and on Oct. 8, according to a police news release.

The vandalism occurred on Friday when the female suspects allegedly broke the window of an apartment in the 500 block of Victoria Street. After police were called, they were found at Victoria Street and Harbor Boulevard and were arrested.

The robbery occurred on Oct. 8 when two of the females allegedly punched the face of a 15-year-old girl and robbed her purse as she was walking in the 300 block of Avocado Street.

The alleged attempted robbery happened on the same day when Martinez and one of the juvenile females allegedly asked a 20-year-old woman on Grove Lane what gang she was from. Martinez and the teen allegedly tried to take her purse as they struck her with their fists, and a “club” car security device. When Martinez and the teen were allegedly not able to take the purse, the fled in a car identified as a brown 1992 Ford Crown Victoria.

Both victims suffered minor injuries to their faces. Anyone with information on the crimes may call police at (714) 754-5057.
