TARS NAME LACROSSE COACH

Brad Reppert has been named Newport Harbor High’s lacrosse coach.

Not many high school coaches can say they played professionally in the sport they coach, but Reppert can.

He played for the San Francisco Dragons of Major League Lacrosse over the summer. He scored 12 goals and had eight assists in 11 games with the Dragons. Reppert helped the team to a 7-5 record and a playoff berth.

Reppert also played four years at Towson University in his native Maryland. He led the team in scoring his final three years.

Vanguard University women’s soccer goalkeeper Marissa Swift, who has five shutouts this season, has been named Lion of the Week by the school.

She has led the Lions, ranked No. 21 in the NAIA, to an 8-2-1 start.

In recent games against Condordia and Azusa Pacific, she allowed one goal in 186 minutes.

She made two saves in the Lions’ 2-0 win over Concordia. She had only given up three goals all season before facing the No. 2-ranked APU Cougars.
