RIVERSIDE — Kelsey Wirt’s team-high 21 kills and 25 digs led the Lions to a 30-27, 33-31, 21-30, 18-30, 15-9 Orange Empire Conference upset victory over the NAIA’s third-ranked teamTuesday

Kim Wynn (23 digs) and Shardai Sublett added 14 and 12 kills, respectively for Vanguard (11-10, 4-9 in conference). Breeann Peterson added 48 assists.

MEN’S SOCCER

Orange Coast 2, Fullerton 1

FULLERTON — Adam Hare’s unusual goal 22 seconds into the game, made the difference in the Pirates’ Orange Empire Conference victory Tuesday.

Fullerton’s goalie attempted to clear the ball, but it ricocheted off Hare’s head and into the net. Ian Cone scored an unassisted goal for OCC (6-6-3, 2-3-2 in conference).

Orange Coast 2, Santa Ana 0

COSTA MESA — Loren Kortizija and Nicole Huff scored one goal each in the Pirates’ Orange Empire Conference victory Tuesday.

OCC’s Ashley Boyer and Kelli Fresenius had one assist each.

Goalie Katie Johnson recorded three saves for OCC (9-5-1, 6-3-1 in conference).

The Prestige at PGA West

LA QUINTA — The UC Irvine men’s golf team finished third at the Greg Norman Course Tuesday.

UCI’s Jay Choe tied for second place at 6-under 210.

Brian Edick and Sean Shahi tied for 15th.

John Chin finished 26th at 221 and Tim Cha was 51st at 229.

WOMEN’S GOLF

Lady Aztec Fall Classic

SAN DIEGO — The UC Irvine women’s golf team finished in third place at the Salt Creek Golf Course Tuesday.

UC Irvine’s Selanee Henderson finished fourth with a score of 144 over 36 holes.

Jane Chin finished eighth. Kim Lorenzana came in 15th place with a score of 149.

Patty Chawalitmetha was 49th with a 157.

Mariko Makabe was 92nd, scoring 165.
