The FBI and Costa Mesa Police were questioning a bank robbery suspect arrested in Fountain Valley today after he allegedly robbed the First Bank & Trust in the 3000 block of Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa today, Sgt. Marty Carver said.

Costa Mesa resident Michael S. Kelly, 48, was arrested just after 10 a.m. today by Fountain Valley and Costa Mesa police in the CostCo parking lot in the 17900 block of Newhope Street at Talbert Avenue after Costa Mesa Police issued an alert to all agencies in the county with a suspect and car description.

Kelly reportedly entered the First Bank & Trust wearing a Halloween mask from the movie “Scream” and a black hooded sweatshirt. He had a toy gun. Before he fled the scene, police said Kelly ordered everyone in the bank to the ground and took an undisclosed amount of cash from two bank tellers. No injuries were reported.

A female bank teller called the police at 9:21 a.m. to report the robbery. FBI agents were still questioning Kelly at noon today to determine if he is connected to any other robberies.
