NEWPORT BEACH — Behind balanced scoring the Sea Kings notched their first undefeated league season with Wednesday’s record-breaking team score, at Newport Beach Country Club.

Seniors Jessica Milner and Jonna Kim each shot a five-over par 41. Courtney Wright and Cierra Gaytan-Leach shot 42s and sophomore Kelly Moorhead had a 44 for the Sea Kings (12-0-1, 11-0 in the Pacific Coast League).

“They work so hard and they are good as a team,” Coach Mike Starkweather said. “We don’t have one person who is shooting 36 or 37. We have everyone shooting in the low 40s. Any player is capable of carrying the team and as a coach that is what you want.”

St. Margaret’s 233, Sage Hill 271

LAGUNA NIGUEL — Kelsey’s Zvenditozzi’s nine-over par 45 was not enough to prevent the Lightning from losing their Academy League contest Wednesday.

Natalie Kraft (51), Amy Babbush (56), Sara Anderson (59) and Sara White (60) scored for the Lightning (5-5, 5-2 in league).

Costa Mesa 19, Estancia 4

COSTA MESA — Junior Skyler Twohig scored eight goals to lead the Mustangs to a Orange Coast League win at Estancia High on Wednesday.

Sam Edman added six goals for Costa Mesa (7-10, 2-2 in league) and Scott Neslage made seven saves. For Estancia (1-14, 0-4), Tyler Wayman, Josh Young, Danny O’Neil and Ryan Tasbihchi all scored.

Kyle Lux recorded six saves for Estancia.

IRVINE — The Sea Kings remain unbeaten in Pacific Coast League play thanks to goals by ten different players.

Seven first-quarter scores were all CdM (13-6, 3-0 in league) needed to defeat Irvine High Wednesday.

R.J. Baldoni led the Sea Kings with three goals while Brian Peotter blocked ten Vaqueros’ shots.

LAGUNA BEACH — The Lightning controlled the second half of the game led by junior Beau Caillouette’s four goals, but it was not enough to overcome the Breakers’ first-half flurry in Sage Hill’s Orange Coast League loss Wednesday.

Junior Danny Harold added 12 saves for the Lightning (11-3, 2-2 in league).
