Fairview Park murder suspect set for courtVictor Manuel Garcia is scheduled to appear in court Monday charged with the 2001 murder of a 16-year-old girl whose body was found in Fairview Park.

Garcia is the first person extradited from Mexico on murder charges for a crime committed while a juvenile, according to the district attorney’s office. In April, a judge ruled Garcia, now 22, would be tried as an adult.

Garcia is charged with beating to death Ceceline Godsoe when he was 17 years old. He fled to Mexico when he was named as a suspect.

In Mexico, he was reportedly arrested on suspected domestic abuse charges and extradited to the United States.

Two charged in harbor case to be arraignedThe arraignment for the two people charged with the killing of a Huntington Beach woman whose body was dumped in Newport Harbor was postponed Friday.

Rachael Scarlett Mullenix, 17, and her boyfriend Ian Westleigh Allen, 21, both of Huntington Beach, are scheduled to appear in court Nov. 3 for their arraignments.

The two were arrested Sept. 15 by Louisiana state troopers after the body of Rachael’s mother, Barbara Anne Mullenix, 56, was found stabbed and wrapped in a blanket, floating in the water between a dock and a boat outside the Newport Harbor Yacht Club.

Alleged bank robber in federal custodyMichael S. Kelly of Costa Mesa was charged on one count of armed bank robbery and remanded to U.S. custody Friday for the alleged robbery of the First Bank & Trust the day before.

Kelly reportedly wore a Halloween mask from the 1996 movie “Scream” and carried a toy gun in the takeover-style robbery at the bank on Harbor Boulevard.

He was arrested in Fountain Valley about an hour after the robbery Thursday by both Fountain Valley and Costa Mesa police.

Police found an undisclosed amount of cash, the mask and toy gun in his car.
