Girls under 12 (APP)

Newport Breakers 1, Lake Forest 0: Kelsey Long scored on an assist from Madison Mastera. Sarah Daly, Paige Tennison, Hannah Nance and Brinley Siemonsma also had shots for Newport, and midfielders Taury Hlinka, Katherine Maddox, Kirsten Rohan and Madison Mastera allowed Newport to control the game. Defensive players Hannah Roman, Mollie Friend and Alexandra Steiner teamed with goalies Layne More and Kirsten Rohan on the shutout. Newport firmed up second place in the Advance Play Program league.

Girls under 12

Double Bubble 3, Kiwi Krushers 1: Alyssa Barnett, Sara Bradbury and Michelle Brookes all scored goals for Double Bubble. Outstanding offense led by Katie Gaitan, Lauren Halle, Alex Palmer and Carly Strutner showed fantastic passing skills. Midfielders Kailen Locke, Lauren Yee, Brittany Walker and Dana Siegel played strong defense for Double Bubble, and Breyanna Komadina and Sydney Elliott-Brand covered the backfield.

Girls under 8

Red Hot Chili Peppers vs. The Sharks: Siena Amoroso, Heather Roberts and Julia Ackerman continually challenged the Sharks for the Peppers in a defensive battle. Lauren Henke and Rayna Richardson pushed the ball up the field to the Chili Pepper offense. Julie Doyle made several excellent dribbling runs, but the only Pepper score came from Erika Ellis after a Shark goal kick.

Boys under 8

Blue Lightning vs. Red Devils: Peter Rollins and Tony Morales led the Lightning with a goal each. Rollins, Morales, Sean Liam McCarthy, Isaiah Elzie and Andy Guadarrama all tested the Red Devils goalies with shots on goal. The Devils stepped up their attack, but terrific efforts by Timothy O’Shea, T.J. Morton, Curtis Meyer and Lucas Contreras held them at bay. Lightning goalies Guadarrama, McCarthy, Contreras and Elzie helped hold the Devils scoreless.

Irish Bulldogs vs. Hot Tamales: Zach Durham and A.J. Roth both scored first-quarter goals for the Bulldogs, with Cameron Fournier. Fara Lependu, Fournier and Siemonsma all added second-half goals. Robbie Gehring displayed good ball-handling skills on both offense and defense, while Colin Avary, Alex Davis, Jack McClintock and Tom Phillips worked together to form a solid Bulldog defense.

Boys under 7

Goblins vs. Bull Sharks: Cole Schnieder played great defense for the Goblins and made several successful passes to his teammates. Matthew Carney made two great saves as goalie and had two shots on goal. Dillon Lippman captured the ball and made some nice runs with two shots on goal and made two great saves as goalie. Roy Manwell and Nick Halphide played a great defensive game in and out of goal. Nicholas Nataupsky and Tanner Shallahamer cleared the ball and made great passes to teammates. Scott Ryder scored on one of several shots on goal and had a nice free kick.

Fire Balls: Marcus Croxson was on fire, as he had three goals. Fernando Monroy also made one goal, as did Matthew Weiss, and Trevor Cislaw added his first goal of the season. Seth Roberts and Rory Sever helped out as goalies while Paolo Carrillo-Weisenburger and Aidan Steinke covered the field offensively and defensively.

Under-10 Boys (APP)

CdM Blue Eagles 3, Yorba Linda 0: Corona del Mar scored in the first several minutes and never looked back in a game from Oct. 14. Jack Klein scored the first goal, on assists from David Karamardian and Justin Hanson. Brett Greenlee’s penalty kick into the left corner made the score 2-0, CdM, and the Blue Eagles added their third goal when Hanson’s corner kick was volleyed into the Yorba Linda net by Jason Neiger.

Logan Miller recorded his fourth shutout as goalie for the Blue Eagles, and the defensive corps of Ryan Maister, Blake Fesko, Justin Hess and Nick Fox played high-quality positional defense throughout the entire game. Timmy Hanson and Ryan Stone worked very hard on offense to keep the ball up field, and Nick Premer, Kevin Fults and Jake Giffin were extremely active sweepers, with Giffin turning a number of Yorba Linda threats into Blue Eagles possessions with precise header passes.

CdM Blue Eagles 3, North Irvine 0: Jason Neiger scored three goals as the Blue Eagles won the game on Oct. 7. Forward Ryan Stone assisted on one of the goals, and Logan Miller earned the shutout as goalie. The strong defensive group of Ryan Maister, Nick Fox, Justin Hess, Blake Fesko and Kevin Fults quickly turned defensive plays into counterattacks. The aggressive midfield play of Brett Greenlee, David Karamardian, Nick Premer and Jack Klein directed the transition to forwards Justin Hanson, Jake Giffin and Timmy Hanson, who controlled the ball on offense with accurate passes.

Girls under 10

Maroon Monsoon 2, OC Pirates 1: Morgan Duss and Anneliese Johansson scored for the Monsoon in an exciting game. They had strong offensive help from Katie Chandler, Claire Danner, Caitlin Harvey and Annalise Gushue. Isabella Solomon and Madeleine Francis helped tremendously at both ends of the field, while Kira Woods and Allison Green played a great defensive game. Goalies Juliette Bordier Johnson and Siena Sharf held the Pirates to just one goal.

Maroon Monsoon 2, Purple Pixie Sticks 1: The Monsoon won their fifth straight game, with goals scored by Anneliese Johansson and Morgan Duss. Strong offensive players Kira Woods and Caitlin Harvey pressured the Pixie Sticks’ defense. Madeleine Francis, Isabella Solomon and Katie Chandler proved very valuable at both ends of the field, showing great speed and strength. Defensively, Allison Green, Annalise Gushue and Claire Danner did an excellent job. Once again, goalies Juliette Bordier, Johnson and Siena Sharf frustrated their opponents with several exciting saves.

Tigers 2, Pirates 0: Lauren Kobayashi’s two goals led the Tigers to the win. Great plays by Abigail Klein, Sophia Mossman and Amanda Chila kept the Pirates strong on defense. Sterling Brown, Ally Doherty, Lauren Grable and Jessie Harris played well. Kaitlyn Harvey, Ally Hadfield, Brooke Olson and Arabella Watkins made it a great team effort.

Girls under 8

Flash vs. Blue Waves: Goal scorers for the Flash were Alexa Bonanno, Haley Hopkins, Kelly Lang, Kaylan Knitowski, Riley McQuaid and Kelly Kobayashi. A strong defense led by Gabby Finear and Delaney Day held the Blue Waves at bay.

Boys under 8

Ferraris vs. Italy: Speedy Braxton Andry ran down several breakaways for the Ferraris and helped hold Italy to two goals. The Ferraris also got tough defense from Alex Munro, John Paul Mohr, J.P. Ziegler, Gianluca Vassalli and George Hagestad in goal. Chris Flattum assisted Brett Super on the first Ferrari goal, and Chase Furey added another.
