COSTA MESA — Sara Stratton’s 7-5 in No. 3 singles proved to be key in the Eagles’ Orange Coast League victory at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center Tuesday.

Estancia (10-4, 4-2 in league) are one win away from securing a spot in the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs.

Ellie Edles and the doubles team of Abby Koff and Jennifer Johnston swept for the Eagles.

Estancia plays at Costa Mesa on Thursday.

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Sarah Geocaris swept in singles without dropping a game in the Lightning’s Academy League victory Tuesday.

The Lightning, ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division IV, improved to 16-0, 9-0. They will face CdM today at Balboa Bay Racquet Club.

NEWPORT BEACH — Samantha Hill scored one goal and added two assists in the Sailors’ Sunset League win Tuesday.

Kyliegh Harrison, Rachel Foster and Jackie Sanchez scored one goal each for Newport (18-3-3, 8-1 in league), which can clinch the league title with a win at Santa Ana on Thursday. Foster also had an assist.

NEWPORT BEACH — The Sailors lost its first competition of season, yet left with its share of victories Tuesday at 56th street.

The two girls’ teams, shortboard and longboard, took home victories. Kaleigh Gilchrist led the shortboard team to a 12-9 win, their third victory of the season and her third first-place finish, with an average score of 7.4. Camille Collett finished third in the competition.

Haley Sandberg and Hanna Patrick finished first and second, respectively, in the girls’ longboard with the Sailors winning the event 13-8.

Charlie Buckingham won one of the shortboard heats for the Sailors and Chris LoMenzo won a heat in longboard.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Corona del Mar def. Lag. Hills

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Kasey Kipp had 15 kills and three solo blocks to help lead the Sea Kings to a 25-17, 28-26, 25-17 Pacific Coast League win at home on Tuesday.

Kelly Christian had 10 kills and 13 assists for Corona del Mar (16-2, 10-0 in league), and Jamie Lawson added 17 assists. Shannon Johnson had 14 digs and two aces for the Sea Kings, ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division II-AA.

Corona del Mar plays host to Santa Margarita, ranked No. 3 in Division I-AA, tonight.

Oxford Academy def. Sage Hill

CYPRESS — The Lightning led 12-8 in the fifth game of the Academy League contest, but ultimately fell, 25-19, 14-25, 17-25, 25-14, 17-5, to Oxford Academy Tuesday.

Junior Colleen Heyler had a team-high 14 kills for the Lightning (8-15, 4-3 in league). Senior setter Kelsey Lawler added nine kills and 47 assists. Junior outside hitter Mackenzie Bronk had nine kills and two aces.
