UC Irvine 3, Fullerton 1

IRVINE — Brad Evans scored his seventh goal of the season on a free kick late in the first half to give the Anteaters the Big West Conference win Wednesday.

Craig Ettinger and Anthony Hamilton each added goals for the No. 28-ranked ‘Eaters. Keven Santora assisted on Ettinger’s goal with a crossing pass and J.T. Terrasas sent a pass behind the goalie to set up Hamilton’s goal.

The win improved UC Irvine to 11-3-3, 5-2-1 in conference.

MEN’S WATER POLO

UC Irvine 7, Pepperdine 5

MALIBU — Colin Mello scored five goals to lead the Anteaters to their first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation victory on Wednesday.

Jamie Frank and Cole Bielskis added one goal each for UCI (7-13, 1-2 in conference).

The Anteaters play host to top-ranked USC Saturday at noon.

Orange Coast def. Cypress

COSTA MESA — Kiwi Winkler recorded 22 kills and 14 digs in the Pirates’ 30-20, 30-28, 30-22 Orange Empire Conference win Wednesday.

Ashlee Moon tallied 16 digs, Chelsea Spadaro added 38 assists and Jacqi Reed chipped in with 12 kills for OCC (14-1, 7-1 in conference).

The Pirates return to action Friday at Santa Ana at 7 p.m.

WOMEN’S GOLF

Kent Youel Invitational

KAPOLEI, Hawaii — The UC Irvine women’s golf team tied for third place at the Kapolei Golf Course Wednesday.

The Anteaters shot a 306 on the final 18 to total a three-round score of 913 and tie Southern Methodist for third place. San Francisco shot the low round of the day with a 298 to win the title with a score of 905.

Southern Methodist’s Lacey Jones won the individual title at three-over-par 219.

The Anteaters were led by junior Selanee Henderson who tied for seventh with a score of 226 (75-74-77). Junior Jane Chin carded a 73 on the final round for 13th with a 229 (79-77-73) total. Junior Kim Lorenzana shot a 231 (79-75-77) and was 15th. Freshman Henna Cho was 19th, her first collegiate top 20 finish with a score of 232 (80-73-79), while freshman Patty Chawalitmetha was 31st after carding a 235 (75-77-83).

UC Irvine concludes the fall schedule at the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown Oct. 30-Nov. 1.

Vanguard 1, SD Christian 0 (OT)

COSTA MESA — Andrew Elliott’s unassisted goal 2:33 into overtime gave the Lions the Golden State Athletic Conference win on Wednesday.

The Lions (12-2-2, 6-1-2 in conference) had 25 shots in the game, including 10 by Sem Lopez, compared to just one shot for San Diego Christian (1-15, 0-9).
