Lacrosse clinics offered for youths
Youth lacrosse clinics will be held in Huntington Beach on upcoming Sunday afternoons leading up to the 2006-07 season.
The clinics are free to boys in grades fifth through eighth and designed for returning players, as well as those new to the sport. Huntington Beach will field both a 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade team for the 2006-07 season, which runs from December through February.
Lacrosse is now a CIF-sanctioned sport and 15 Orange County high schools, including Marina and Huntington Beach, field lacrosse teams. For more information on the starting date of the clinics, contact Mike Mutrie at m.mutrie@oberthurcs.com or Bert Shepley at ats@socal.rr.com.

Youth hoops camp, academy set to start
A youth basketball camp for local youth, grades second through ninth, will be offered in Huntington beach at Liberty Christian School.
The camp runs Nov. 20 through 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $150 per camper and multiple family members, groups and team discounts are available. Liberty Christian is located at 7661 Warner Ave.
In other basketball news, the JW Basketball Academy is offering beginners’ classes. The academy is open to youngsters ages 3 to 5 and teaches dribbling, passing and shooting skills with a junior-sized basketball on smaller, indoor courts. The cost is $25 per session and $150 per month.
