Orange Oilers continue to roll, winning 34-8

The Huntington Beach Pee Wee Division Orange Oilers continued their winning ways Saturday by routing the visiting Fountain Valley Barons, 34-8, in Jr. All-American Football action at Huntington Beach High.

Ramon Vargas and Jackson Truong each rushed for a pair of touchdowns, and Donald Rice added a score for Huntington. The Orange Oilers dominated play behind the efforts of Bernardo Robles, Damien Williamson, Alex Alagata, Brandon Wooten, Darrin Romo, Matt Tavakoli, Vincent Dugard, Justin McCollum and Jacob Lainson.

Jr. Pee Wee Division

Huntington 39, Westminster 6

Running back Matt Oakley scored a pair of first-half touchdowns and the Oilers played their most complete game of the season in handling the Lions.

In addition to Oakley’s scores, Dusty Stewart rushed for a third touchdown in the opening half and kicker Grant Lowman made two out of three extra-point kicks to give Huntington a 22-0 halftime lead.

Trevor Jackson and Jesse Oleson each rushed for touchdowns in the second half, Lowman was successful on another conversion kick and Jackson added a conversion run, as the lead expanded to 37-0.

After Westminster finally cracked the scoreboard in the fourth quarter, Huntington’s Nick Cuttrell recorded a sack to end the game.

Nati Fiaseu, Brandon Graves, Nick Tricarico and Danny Maguire each recorded quarterback sacks and Luke Sonne and Eric Parra were a force for the Oilers on the defensive line.

Jr. Clinic Division

Huntington 18, Fountain Valley 6

An interception return for an 80-yard touchdown by Cade Benard set Huntington in motion, as the Black Oilers downed the Barons.

Quincy Wimbish and Isaiah Muniz scored touchdowns in the second half and Nathan Matthews had two key tackles to prevent the Barons from scoring.

Future League

Huntington 25, Westminster 20

Nicholas Welch scored all four Huntington touchdowns and Arick McLawyer had some key runs, as the Orange Oilers got past the Lions.

Drake Williamson recorded an extra point on an end around and also had a touchdown-saving stop on a kickoff return for Huntington. Jake Parks also prevented the Lions from scoring with a big stop.

Paving the way for the Orange Oilers rushing game was quarterback Shea DiNucci, center Michael Goodheart and linemen Jakob Welch, Quintin Matheny, Allen Fallon, Brett Valdespino and Shane Hammer.

In cheer competition news:

The Orange County Jr. All-American Cheer competition was held Sunday at Eddie West Stadium in Santa Ana, and three division squads from Huntington — Clinic Orange, Clinic Black and Jr. Midget — competed and earned trophies.

Another Huntington team, the mascots, did not compete Sunday but did give a performance.

The Clinic Orange cheer team, which won a national championship in 2005, won first place in its division. Members of the squad are Alexyss Gutierrez, Erica Avalos, Corrine Kudlak, Madison Schear, Ashley Armstrong, Destiny Pancoast and Hannah Welander.

The Junior Midget cheer team also captured first-place and the Clinic Black team was third.

The competition drew teams from Jr. All-American chapters throughout the league: Huntington, Inglewood, Carson, Corona, Mission Viejo, Irvine and Fountain Valley.

The next cheer competition is the regional event on Nov. 5 at Magic Mountain.
