Boo Blast today; early arrival encouraged

El Morro Elementary’s annual Boo Blast Halloween Carnival takes place today from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. This year’s festival will have a “Haunted Ghost Town” western theme, with a mechanical bull, pony rides and a western barbecue.

The event takes place at the school, 8681 N. Coast Highway. To get to the school, turn right at first stoplight north of city limits. Traffic to the event can be extremely heavy later in the day, so visitors are advised to arrive as early as possible to avoid congestion.

Parents Club hosts costume parade

The Laguna Beach Parents club will hold their second annual Halloween Main Beach Parade at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

No reservations are necessary. Families who wish to participate are asked to meet at the Main Beach playground, from which the group will parade down the boardwalk and then return to the playground. There will be treats afterward.

SchoolPower golf tournament Nov. 6

SchoolPower’s 14th annual “Got Beach” Classic will be held at the Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club on Nov. 6.

The fundraising goal from the event is $100,000, and 80% of proceeds will go to the four Laguna Beach public schools, with the remainder going to the high school athletic department.

Tee time will be at 9:30 a.m. and registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Two formats will be offered: a four-person scramble and a four-man, two-best ball. Several games will be held on each course, and goodie bags will be given to all players. An awards dinner will be held afterward in the clubhouse.

Event fees include a catered breakfast and lunch, cocktail reception and silent auction. A silent auction/opportunity drawing and cocktail reception will begin at 4:30 p.m. Sponsorships and auction item donations are still requested.

Registration fees for the event are $315 for golf and dinner, and $75 for cocktails and dinner only, with free afternoon “Fun Bus” transportation provided. The registration deadline is Monday. Register online at www.lbschoolpower.org or call (949) 494-6811 for more information.
