NEWPORT HARBOR — Brandon Parole scored five goals, as the Sailors wrapped up a Sunset League championship season Wednesday.

Colin McKibbin and Blake Hockenbury added two goals each for Newport (21-5, 5-0 in league). Sailors goalie Bryce McLain stopped 11 shots.

Laguna Beach 13, Costa Mesa 2 COSTA MESA — Mustangs goalie Scott Neslage recorded 10 saves and broke the school record for most saves in a season in Mesa’s season-ending Pacific Coast League loss Wednesday.

Neslage finished with 313, two better than Justin Taylor, who set the mark in 1996 and is now an assistant for the Mustangs (11-17, 2-4).

COSTA MESA — Ellie Edles and the doubles team of Abby Koff and Jennifer Johnston swept their sets in the Eagles’ Golden West League win at home Wednesday.

The Eagles, who finished second to Laguna Beach, advance to the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs. Seedings will be released Monday.

Estancia (12-5-, 6-3 in league) will compete in the league finals today and Friday at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.
