Two arrested in connection with stabbing

Costa Mesa Police arrested two Costa Mesa men early Friday in connection with the Tuesday night stabbing murder of Costa Mesa resident Daniel Martinez Rios.

Antonio Aguilar-Gomez, 22, and Jose Gerardo Guzman-Gomez, 25, were arrested at 12:15 a.m. Friday for felony accessory to the murder, according to Costa Mesa Police arrest logs.

Police could not elaborate on anything surrounding the arrests, said Lt. Loren Wyrick.

Rios, 33, died after police found him near his Eastside apartment with several stab wounds. Police told the Daily Pilot Wednesday they believed he was assaulted by his neighbor Evelio Aguilar Gomez after a minor traffic accident with Gomez’s girlfriend. It is unknown if he is related or knows the two who were arrested Friday morning.
