Pacific Coast League finals

LAGUNA HILLS — Corona del Mar High freshman Melissa Matsuoka captured the league singles title defeating Laguna Hills’ Brittany Rosen, 6-4, 4-6, 11-9, Friday at Laguna Hills High.

The Sea Kings’ doubles team of Jill Damion and Cierra Gaytan-Leach also won a PCL title with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over teammates Lindsay Zotovich and Karen Ishii.

Matsuoka defeated Megan Hennighan of Beckman, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the final. Rosen defeated Corona del Mar’s Hailey Hogan, 6-4, 6-2 in the other semifinal.

Damion and Gaytan-Leach got past CdM’s Michelle Atkins and Kelly McKitterick, 6-1, 6-1, in a semifinal, while Zotovich and Ishii scored a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over twin sisters Hayley and Miranda Young, also of the Sea Kings.

Orange Coast League finals

COSTA MESA — Estancia High sophomore Ellie Edles reached the finals, but lost to Laguna Beach’s Lindsay Kinstler, 6-0, 6-1, Friday at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.

Edles defeated Madeline Jaeger of Laguna Beach, 7-5, 6-7 (6-8), 7-5, in a semifinal. Estancia Coach Rachel de los Santos said the match lasted three hours.

The Estancia doubles team of Abby Koff and Jennifer Johnston lost to Kimmie Smith and Allison Azera of Laguna Beach, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 in a semifinal.
