NEWPORT BEACH — Freshman Kaleigh Gilchrist posted the highest meet score with a 6.5 in girls’ short board and took first place for the fifth time this season to lead Newport Harbor High Tuesday at 56th Street Beach.

The girls’ short board team is 5-0 on the season.

The Sailors’ dominated the short board competition winning three of the four heats and 53-31. Jared Cassidy, Stevie Farmer and Christian Morabito all finished first in their heats, with Farmer’s 5.6 average the top of the day.

The boys’ long board team won, 12-9, with Andy Delorme finishing second. The girls’ long board team won, 12-8, with Hailey Sandberg finishing second to improve to 4-1.

Matt Kretschmar was second for the body board team which fell, 13-8.

The Sailors face San Clemente Tuesday at T-Street Beach in San Clemente.
