An Oregon man believed to be responsible for a string of vehicular burglaries in Three Arch Bay last month was arrested early Oct. 27 after an astute police officer recognized his vehicle and followed the suspect to an underground garage on the 30900 block of Coast Highway, Det. Sgt. Darin Lenyi said.

Photographs of the suspect and his car were obtained from store surveillance in Aliso Viejo, where he had used an allegedly stolen credit card.

The suspect abandoned his vehicle and ran, and was chased on foot by the officer.

He was apprehended about 3:45 a.m.

The suspect’s vehicle contained items allegedly stolen from two different vehicles, and Lenyi said the suspect admitted to two burglaries.

The suspect was arrested on a charge of burglary in connection with purchases made with the stolen credit card, Lenyi said.

Electronics recovered from the vehicular burglaries were booked into evidence and will eventually be returned to the victims, Lenyi said.
