A Costa Mesa man who was arrested Friday night on suspicion of vandalism and petty theft after he reportedly ran into Condom Revolution on Newport Boulevard and stole a sex toy, is also now suspected of giving false identification to police officers at the scene, Lt. Dale Birney said.

Costa Mesa Police identified the suspect as Mijelanjel Castillo, 22, when he was booked into Costa Mesa Jail on Friday night. It was found he also had two warrants out for his arrest, Birney said.

Castillo was arrested Friday after police responded to a call that a thief ran into the store, grabbed a sex toy and ran out, Sgt. Mike Ginther said. Employees chased the thief out of the store, but he jumped on a bike and tried to flee through the inside of the bicycle shop next door, Ginther said. While riding through the store, the thief reportedly knocked merchandise over. As he attempted to exit through the front door, employees captured him and restrained him until police arrived, Ginther said.
