BREAKING NEWS:

A 78-year-old man was found drowned in Newport Harbor early this morning, according to Newport Beach Police.

A passerby came upon the man in the 700 block of West Bay Avenue just before 4:15 a.m., officials said.

It appeared the man fell off a dock or a dinghy and didn’t have the strength to pull himself out of the water, Sgt. Evan Sailor said.

The coroner had not yet confirmed his identity. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.
