LETTER TO THE EDITOR:Neighbor deserves better
The Nov. 7 election has come and gone, with the expected big shake ups on Capitol Hill. And here at home in the O.C., as well as statewide, the status quo seems to have prevailed more or less.
Unfortunately, however, when it comes to the Newport Beach council elections, the status quo seems to have prevailed as well — it’s the never-ending acrimony found in the pages of the Daily Pilot regarding political consultant David Ellis.
As Ellis’ neighbor of the past eight years, it’s hard not to imagine a more regular kind of guy. As neighbors, we all know Ellis can be found most afternoons throwing the baseball around with the kids, or if needed always gracious to lend a hand with jumper cables, a step ladder, a bicycle pump or the like.
In a world of now never-ending, self-appointed “experts” — diet experts, fitness experts, relationship experts, financial experts — I find it humorous as well as disappointing that as fine a person as Dave Ellis is, he is now being criticized in print for what is obviously a real and truly earned area of expertise.
