Seahawks seek to repeat
The start to the 2006-07 prep basketball season is a week away, and the Independent will preview the boys’ and girls’ teams from Edison, Huntington Beach, Marina and Ocean View beginning with this issue.
The previews begin with Ocean View and continues with teams from Edison, Huntington Beach and Marina in the Nov. 30 issue.

Ocean View, which has won the Golden West League title two of the past three years, will look to return to the top again behind Butler (all-CIF, MVP of league), Harris (first-team all-league), Dunn (all-league honorable mention) and Holz (all-league honorable mention).
Harris and Dunn are recovering from knee injuries and Harris said that Horiuchi has a heart aliment.
“We’re young but have good experience and leadership,” Harris said. “Good balance of scoring. Good overall size.”

The Seahawks will be out to win their 10th league title in the last 11 years and will be led by 2006 second-team all-CIF pick in Ishimoto. Horiuchi, with a 4.62 GPA, is ranked No. 1 in the Class of 2007, Jim Harris said.
