NEWPORT MESA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD MEETING PREVIEW

Here are some items the board will consider today:

ORGANIZATIONAL MEETINGThe school board’s meeting on Dec. 12 looks to be a rich one. Every year, the board holds an organizational meeting to choose president, vice president, clerk and other officers for the coming 12 months.

In addition, this year the board will have three new trustees to swear in: former Costa Mesa Planning Commissioner Walt Davenport, who will replace trustee Tom Egan; College Park Elementary School PTA President Michael Collier, who won the race for Linda Sneen’s open seat; and former Corona del Mar High School parent Karen Yelsey, who defeated incumbent Serene Stokes.

At today’s meeting, the board will vote to set its organizational meeting on Dec. 12.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A yes vote, with silent encouragement from Davenport, Collier and Yelsey.

SCHEDULE CHANGEThe board will vote on whether to cancel its regularly scheduled board meeting on Dec. 26, due to the winter holidays.

The board will approve canceling the meeting.
