COSTA MESA — Estancia senior Melissa Buchmann scored eight goals, leading the Eagles in the nonleague game on Wednesday.

Sophomore Amber Peters had five goals and Shea Kopp and Chelsea Leon added three each for the Eagles (2-1). Goalie Emily Kaplan made 13 saves.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA — The Eagles came back from a two-goal deficit to tie the defending CIF Southern Section Division I champion Santa Margarita, 2-2, in the Eagles’ season opener Wednesday.

Junior Eric Duarte scored a goal in the 73rd minute off a free kick just outside the goal box then Edgar Rodriguez scored the equalizer off an assist from Denny Perdomo for the Eagles (0-0-1). Goalkeeper Daniel Calderon made three saves for Estancia.

Huntington Beach 2, Corona del Mar 1

COSTA MESA — Sea Kings’ senior Charlie Albright scored a game-tying goal on Brian Yasukochi’s assist, but CdM (1-1) fell in a nonleague game Wednesday at Orange Coast College.

Goalie Aman Sahni had nine saves for the Sea Kings, who play host to Dana Hills on Friday.

Foothill 71, Estancia 44

BUENA PARK — Blake Pinto scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Eagles, which lost their second straight pool-play game at the Coyote Classic at Buena Park High Wednesday.

Ian Castellanos added nine points, five rebounds and three steals for the Eagles (0-2), who will play Irvine today at 5 p.m.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — The Lightning never trailed until Calvary Chapel scored the game-winning points on a lay up with three seconds left to win the first game of pool play at the Brethren Christian Warrior Invitational Wednesday.

Jamie McGee led the Lightning (0-1) with 14 points and Connor Rose added 11.

South Coast League Individuals

SAN CLEMENTE — Newport Harbor High’s Victor Done placed third in the boys’ short board competition at the 36-surfer South Coast League Individual tournament Wednesday at Upper Trestles Beach.

Sailors Chase Wilson and Cameron Clark finished fifth and sixth respectively in the short board event that also featured surfers from Laguna Beach, San Clemente and Dana Hills.

Tyler Tarlow and Charlie Buckingham both advanced to the semifinals for Newport Harbor. Stevie Farmer, Christian Morabito and Reagan Riley advanced to the quarterfinals for the Sailors.

Newport Harbor will make up a rain-out contest Tuesday against San Clemente at T Street Beach at 6:30 a.m.
