5,000 flock to Christmas Walk in CdM
This year’s Corona del Mar Christmas Walk attracted about 5,000 people who donated 20 bins of gifts to Toys for Tots, Corona del Mar Chamber of Commerce President Linda Leonhard said Monday.
The event, held Sunday along West Coast Highway, was the 28th annual walk and featured about a dozen bands playing Christmas music, folk songs and surf tunes, as well as the Oasis Senior Center’s ukulele players.
Some U.S. Marines came by to collect toy donations, most Corona del Mar businesses were open, and there was rock climbing, face painting and magicians to entertain kids, Leonhard said.
“It was the most successful Christmas walk we’ve ever had,” she said. “It’s a tradition for the community. People have pre-parties in their homes and then they all set out for the walk.”
