And while we’re passing out congratulations, let’s have a big round of applause for the Corona del Mar High girls’ cross-country team — the best in California in its division for the second year in a row.

Led by senior Sarah Cummings and junior Shelby Buckley, the Corona del Mar girl harriers last month captured the Division III title at the CIF State Championships in Fresno.

And as if the team victory wasn’t enough, Cummings — who is headed for Princeton next year — won the Division III individual title, followed by Buckley, No. 2 in the state.

It just doesn’t get much better than that.

Coach Bill Sumner, who has guided the team to three consecutive Southern Section titles as well, confirmed that the bar is set pretty high at Corona del Mar.

“We treat it as if it’s Life 1A,” Sumner said.

It shows.

Congratulations, girls’ Sea Kings. You’re the best.
