Four to be honored at ball

Four Laguna Beach women — all college freshmen — will be among 18 debs wearing white gowns and muffs as they are presented Saturday at the Ritz Carlton-Dana Point during the Laguna Beach chapter of the National Charity League’s Debutante Ball.

The National Charity League is a nonprofit, philanthropic mother/daughter organization. The debutants will be honored for their six years of charitable contributions to the community. The Laguna Beach branch is one of five to qualify for a formal ball.

Lorren Sue Butterwick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Dodds Butterwick, is a 2006 graduate of Laguna Beach High School. Lorren is a freshman at UC Santa Barbara and in high school was awarded National Honor Society status, as well as being a varsity tennis player.

Kara Catherine Ceithaml, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Wallace Ceithaml, graduated in June from Laguna Beach High School and now attends the University of San Diego, a Catholic university. Kara was in the National Honor Society and captain of the Kyne Dance Academy performing team.

She obtained Honors English Excellence, Dance Production Excellence and the Maroon and White Outstanding Citizen Awards during high school.

Jessica Sganga, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Sganga, graduated from Laguna Beach High School in 2006. She mastered several sports, including soccer and tennis; was inducted into the National Honor Society and selected for the academic achievement award in calculus. Jessica is attending Colgate University.

Tessa Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Allen Johnson, is an alumnae of the St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal School, class of 2006. Her favorite high school organization was Con Corazon, dedicated to building and furnishing homes for families across the border.

She was voted MVP twice for her athletic abilities on the varsity tennis team, endorsed as an outstanding high school student and active in the Sunshine Readers Programs. Tessa is attending Menlo University.
