COSTA MESA — Courtney Ford scored 17 points and reserve Robin Smith added 16 in the Pirates’ win in the OCC New Year’s Crossover, a four-team round-robin tournament, Friday.

Erin Barney added 10 points and Brittany Taylor contributed 10 rebounds for OCC (13-3).

COSTA MESA — Forward Matt Davis had team-highs of 14 points and six rebounds for the Lions in a nonconference victory on Friday at the Surf City Classic.

Curt Watson had 10 points and Kevin Dalafu added nine for Vanguard (4-8), which shot better from three-point land (36.8%) than overall (35.3%). But the Lions held Daemen, from Amherst, N.Y., to a 30.2% overall shooting percentage.
