Four Edison High football players earned top honors on the 2006 All-Sunset League team.

The six coaches from Edison, Marina, Newport Harbor, Fountain Valley, Esperanza and Los Alamitos selected the team.

Hunter White of Edison and Charles Neal of Esperanza, both seniors and members of teams that shared the 2006 Sunset League championship, were named co-Most Valuable Players in the league.

Two other Edison players, senior receiver Dominique Vinson and junior quarterback Nick Crissman, shared the Offensive Back of the Year award.

Senior Martin Coleman of Edison was named Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Crissman set a school record for passing yards in a season with 3,088, Chargers Coach Dave White said. Vinson and Hunter White each shattered the previous school mark for receptions in a season (65) this fall, with Vinson finishing with 78 for 1,100 yards and White tallying 74 for 1,200 yards.

Over the past two years, White and Vinson have garnered two of the league’s top awards. Last year, White, a receiver and defensive back, was named the league’s defensive player of the year and Vinson, also a defensive back, was named defensive back of the year.

“I’m thrilled for all of our players, because they are very deserving,” Dave White said. “I think that Hunter and Dominique were the best two-way players in Orange County. I’m really proud of what they accomplished and their leadership. Neither cared about their stats. They just went out there and gave it their all.”

In addition, Edison had six players named to the first team and six others named second team.

Marina placed two players — senior Kevin Gray and junior Charles Orrison — on the first team and five others made the second team.
