BRIEFLY IN ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT
Sawdust Studio Tour seeks local artists
The Sawdust Art Festival is seeking professional artists who would like to participate in the upcoming Artists’ Studio Tour, scheduled for April 14. About 200 collectors attend the annual event.
The tour is not a gallery visit; only working studios, which may be in private homes or dedicated spaces, are on the tour. Participating artists do not have to be Sawdust exhibitors.
To be considered, working artists must have studios in North Laguna, downtown, Laguna Canyon or south of downtown to Diamond St.
Interested artists should contact Rebecca Meekma at (949) 497-0517 or e-mail Rmeekma@SawdustArtFestival.org by Jan. 26.
City invites arts funding applications
Applications are now available for city business improvement district cultural arts funding. Applications will be accepted from nonprofit organizations with programs offering cultural events that provide the greatest benefit in meeting the cultural needs of Laguna Beach and its visitors.
The application deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, and awards will be made July 1. The arts commission will make recommendations for funding, and the final decision will be made by the City Council.
The funds are intended to promote off-season cultural events and encourage hotel occupancy. The funds assist in supporting projects that promote tourism and tourist-related events.
Application forms are available online at www.lagunabeachcity.net.
