Input sought on new superintendent

The Laguna Beach Unified School District Board of Education is inviting the community to offer input to Leadership Associates, the firm tasked with finding a new district superintendent. Theresa Daem will step down at the end of the school year.

The district will hold two input sessions; the first set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Thurston Middle School library. The second is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8 in the K Turner Library at Laguna Beach High School.

AAUW celebrates Black History Month

The American Assn. of University Women, Laguna Beach branch, celebrates Black History month with a tribute to the life of June Jordan by poets Junichi Semitsu and Dima Hilal at 10:30 a.m., Feb. 3, in the Aliso Viejo Library, 1 Journey.

Club kids’ art juried, exhibited

The Boys & Girls’ Clubs of Laguna Beach hung the works of 76 club members in a gallery-style juried art exhibition at the club’s main branch.

The art was displayed in sections of age groups nine and under, 10 through 12, and 13 through 15. Free ESL classes begin Jan. 30

The Laguna Beach Unified School District Adult Education Program has announced that the second semester of its English as a Second Language starts Jan. 30 and runs through June 22.

Classes run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday in room 90 of the Laguna Beach High School campus, 625 Park Ave. For more information, call (949) 497-7700, ext. 210.
